Tally runs on your desktop, and that's exactly where it should stay. Your company data, your ledgers, your audit trail: none of it moves. What changes is how bills get into Tally.
Today the flow looks like this. A supplier WhatsApps a bill. Someone saves the photo. At the end of the week, that someone opens Tally and types the vendor, amount, GST and date by hand, one bill at a time. It is slow, it slips, and by month-end nobody is sure the books are complete.
With Zoffer, the bill goes to WhatsApp and stops there. Our AI reads it, drafts the Tally entry, and holds it in a verification queue. You open the queue, check the extraction, fix anything wrong, and approve. The entry lands in Tally, with the original bill image attached.
The connector
Because Tally is desktop software with no public cloud API, Zoffer talks to it through a lightweight connector that runs alongside your Tally installation. The connector writes approved entries into your company data using Tally's own XML interface. It pushes entries in; it does not pull your books out. Your financial data never leaves your machine.
What syncs
- Vendor — matched against your existing Tally ledgers where a match exists, flagged for you to map where it doesn't
- Amount, bill date, bill number — extracted from the bill face
- GST breakdown — CGST, SGST, IGST split out, with GSTIN where the bill carries one
- Line items — item, HSN, quantity, rate, amount, where the bill shows them
- The original bill image — attached to the entry so your audit trail stays intact
What you keep control of
Nothing posts automatically. Every extracted bill waits for your approval, and you can edit any field before it goes through. If the AI reads a vendor wrong once, you correct it and Zoffer remembers that vendor next time. If you would rather your CA approve everything, route the queue to them — you forward bills, they sign off, Tally stays clean.
Questions about the Tally integration
Through a lightweight connector that runs alongside your Tally installation. Tally is desktop software, so unlike a cloud tool such as Zoho Books there's no public API to call directly. The connector watches for approved entries from Zoffer and writes them into your Tally company data using Tally's own XML interface. Your Tally data never leaves your machine — the connector pushes entries in, it doesn't pull your books out.
TallyPrime is the primary target, including TallyPrime Edit Log. Tally.ERP 9 support depends on demand from pre-registered users — if you're on ERP 9, say so when you register and it factors into the build order.

Each entry carries the vendor (matched to your existing Tally ledger where possible), amount, bill date, bill number, GST breakdown, and line items where the bill shows them. No, and that's deliberate. Every extracted bill waits in your Zoffer verification dashboard. You review the vendor, amount, GST and category, edit anything that's wrong, and approve. Only approved entries reach Tally. Nothing writes to your books without a human signing off on it.
For entries to reach Tally, yes — the connector needs Tally open on the machine that holds your company data. But bill capture is independent of that. Your team can forward bills on WhatsApp at any hour; they're extracted and queued in the cloud. When your Tally machine is next running, approved entries flow in. Nothing gets lost because the office computer was off.
Early access opens to pre-registered users in waves, with personal onboarding for each. We haven't fixed Tally pricing yet. Pre-registered users will get the launch pricing and won't be charged more than the current Zoho Books plans — Free for 20 bills a month, ₹999 a month for 200.
Yes, and this is a common setup. You forward bills on WhatsApp, Zoffer extracts them, and your CA reviews and approves from their end before anything posts to Tally. Your CA keeps control of the books; you stop sending photos that someone has to retype. CA firms running multiple clients this way should look at the Founding Partner plan.
